With the WPMC Karting season upon us, we took some time to get to know Desmond Butler from Moment In Time Images a little better and find out what makes WPMC Karting’s resident artist tick.
For the first time in my career, last year presented me the opportunity to attend and capture special Moments In Time at the WPMC Karting Section.
What a pleasure it was to experience something completely different. A wonderfully colorful form of motorsport with such intense emotion and passion, far more so than anything I have photographed before. Capturing an emotion at a precise Moment In Time is my primary driver for doing what I do. With motorsport as the main subject, I am afforded this pleasure in abundance.
Last year I got the opportunity to meet so many new people while walking up and down the pits, and the friendly atmosphere of the WPMC Karting Section makes it a pleasure shooting the images you will see here. Many long hours walking up and down and trying to be in more than one spot at the same time, but worth every second. Capturing my first National event last year was a highlight for me. Seeing all the unique helmet designs and stunning karts was a special sight.
I like thinking outside the box during certain moments and I aim to portray that through my images. I hope that I may have brought something small to the table with my photography at the WPMC Karting events and I’m so looking forward to the 2022 season, when I will again try to improve on what I love to do.
Together with the passionate parents and spectators, I got to experience the highs and lows of this intense sport while being there to capture these unique Moments In Time. I derive my motivation from constantly seeking to improve my artwork while striving to be in the right spot at the right time.
I take great pleasure in then sharing these moments with the community and seeing their responses. This is one of the best feelings for a photographer.
