The Western Province Kart Championships is set to kick off its first round on February 11th, 2023, at the Killarney International Raceway.
With nearly 100 drivers from different categories, the competition is sure to be fierce and the excitement level will be through the roof. The event features Bambino, Micro Max, Mini Rok, Mini Max, Junior Max, Senior Max, DD2, and DD2 Masters categories, providing a platform for drivers of all ages and skill levels to compete.

Bambino (5th – 9th birthday)
The Bambino class is set for a highly competitive day of racing, with favourites Michael O’Mahoney, Caleb Lingeveldt, and Carter Cedras, among others, taking part. The class also features returning racers Slater Smith and Yaqeen Gamieldien, as well as debutants Ray du Toit, Radhi Harris, Ebrahim Khalpey, and Jake Steyn. These youngsters can’t wait to hit the circuit this weekend. Make sure you join the parents in screaming for your favourite drivers!
Micro MAX (7th – 12th birthday)
The Micro Max class is set to be another exciting race, with favourites Aiden Beaumont and Michael Danks looking to continue their tight battle from 2022. Michael O’Mahoney and Ruan Lewis will be returning to the track, while a number of debutants, including Bambino graduates Jayden van der Merwe and Carter Cedras along with Mia Hermanus, Ruben Gelderblom and Zac Hindley.
Mini ROK (8th – 13th birthday)
Max Boshoff, the 2022 Kid Rok champion, will be a driver to watch in the Mini Rok class, as he brings his experience to the front of the pack. Other favourites include 2022 front runner Sebastiano Human, Logan Roehrig, Max Denisov, and Aadiv Singh while Debutants Ruhan Victor, Daniel Arendse and Ethan Azar will also be looking to make an impact in the class.
Mini MAX (9th – 14th birthday)
The Mini Max class will be exciting to watch, as the Beaumont brothers, Keagan and Aiden, will be racing together again! Liam Koekemoer, who has a full Mini Max season under his belt, will also be a driver to watch, as he fights for wins. Keep an eye out for big performances from class debutants Nicolas Lennox, Franco Bensch and Cody Schultz.
Junior MAX (12th – 16th birthday)
The Junior Max class is looking incredibly strong, with a large number of entries and a high level of talent. Reese Koorzen dominated the 2022 season, but can he repeat that with the highly talented likes of Ethan Deacon, Jordon Wadeley, Joshua Smit, Jude Stuart and Keagan Beaumont among the favorites to dethrone Koorzen. This is one impressive list of racers. Meanwhile debutants William Marshall, Matthew Chiwara and James Nash will also be looking to make their mark in the class as they all possess race winning experience in the lower classes. A big welcome Cole Hewetson who goes racing at Killarney for the first time.
Senior MAX (14th birthday +)
The Senior Max class will feature some serious metal. Charl Visser is a decorated driver who along with his 2023 GTC Supa Cup duties, will grace the Killarney tarmac to do battle with International Star Andrew Rackstraw and local heroes Ethan Stier, Storm Lanfear and Matthew Wadeley. Returning racer Zac Laden will also be a driver to watch along with Debutants Julius Schwager, who returns to Killarney having last raced in Micro Max and Lucas Aladag will be looking to make an impact in the class.
DD2 (15th birthday +) and DD2 Masters (32nd birthday +)
The DD2 class will feature highly experienced racers, including reigning DD2 SA Champion Sebastian Boyd, Joseph Oelz and Jason Coetzee. These three will put on some of the tightest and hardest racing on the day. Be sure not to miss it. Storm Lanfear will also be returning to the track after some time away while debutant Jaden Jacobs will be looking to make his mark in the class having moved up from the Senior Max class.
MASTERS
The DD2 Masters class will feature favorites Conor Hughes and Jared Jordan, among others. Returning racers Steve Beaumont, Neville Chapman, Michael Jordan, and Eugene Clark will also be looking to make their presence felt on the track.
Additionally, the DD2 Masters class will be competing on the same weight as DD2 this season, making for an exciting race between the older and more experienced drivers and the younger racers. It will be interesting to see how the veterans of the sport fare against the younger and more competitive field in DD2.
