Bambino (5th – 9th birthday)

The 2023 Bambino Championship is hurtling towards its climax, with anticipation reaching a fever pitch as this season’s showdown looms. The spotlight is on Michael O’Mahoney and Yaqeen Gamieldien, both vying for the title. As the weekend approaches, the question on everyone’s lips is, who will emerge as the Bambino champion for 2023?

O’Mahoney currently holds a slender lead, but the narrative takes an intriguing twist when you consider Gamieldien’s scintillating run of form, clinching victory in the last five races. Fans have witnessed a masterclass in driving from Gamieldien, bringing the championship battle to a nail-biting end.

Adding spice to the competition is the formidable duo of Slater Smith and Radhi Harris. Locked in their intense battle, they are determined to secure the third spot in the standings. Smith, with a win under his belt this season, is poised for a strong finish. On the other side, Harris, consistently in good form, is not to be underestimated. Their clash promises to be a spectacle within the larger drama of the championship.

The field is further stacked with talent, including the likes of Carter Cedras, Caleb Lingeveldt, Jake Steyn, Ebrahim Khalfey, and Jacques Lewis. Each driver brings their unique skills to the track, adding to an already thrilling finale.

Micro MAX (7th – 11th birthday)

Rotax Micro Max is a battlefield, and as the 2023 season hurtles toward its finale, the tension is high at the sharp end. Liam Wharton, currently leading the charge, faces fierce competition from the relentless Michael O’Mahoney, who once again finds himself in the thick of a Championship battle, setting the stage for a high-stakes Saturday for both drivers.

While the battle for the top intensifies, Jayden van der Merwe maintains a steady hold on third place in the standings. However, this young driver is not content with merely securing his position; he is poised to unleash his full potential and fight for victories this weekend.

The drama doesn’t stop there, as a colossal clash unfolds for the coveted fourth spot in the championship. The trio of Carter Cedras, Zac Hindley, and Ruan Lewis are locked in a heated struggle, each determined to make the fourth spot in the standings their own. The battle within this battle promises edge-of-the-seat action.

Adding to the mix are formidable contenders like Round 7 winner Kiyaan Reddi, who is undoubtedly aiming for another top-notch performance. Alongside him are his brother, Ashaan Reddi, and the talented Mia Hermanus, all of whom are capable of causing upsets on race day.

Mini Rok (8th – 13th birthday)

The Mini Rok Class is gearing up for a thrilling end to the 2023 season, and all eyes are on Sebastiano Human, who carries a healthy points lead into the final round this weekend.

Chasing Human closely in the standings is Max Boshoff, a familiar presence on the track and a formidable rival. Their battles have been a highlight of the season, adding an extra layer of excitement to the championship narrative. Yet, the weekend promises more than just a two-horse race, with several drivers eager to taste victory.

Zac Boshof is eyeing a confirmation of his third overall standing for 2023, aiming to cap off a consistent and competitive season. Meanwhile, the fight for fourth place in the standings is a fierce tussle involving Max Denisov, Aadiv Singh, and Logan Roehrig, all determined to secure their spot in the final standings.

The competition is further fueled by a lineup of talented drivers, including the last-time winner Aaron Mason, who is set to be a threat once again. Joining the fray are Ruhan Victor, Onwabile Mcinga, and the Reddi brothers, Kiyaan and Ashaan, all ready to make their mark on the track.

Adding a fresh dimension to the races are newcomers Aashay Nagura, Jose’ Slamet, and Noah Cronje from JHB, making their debut in the Mini Rok Class this season.

Mini MAX (9th – 13th birthday)

The Mini Max stage is set for Keagan Beaumont. Having missed the previous round, he finds himself in a commanding position – a mere formality away from being crowned the 2023 Mini Max Champion after a dominant season. All he needs is to finish each race, avoiding any exclusions, to seal his well-deserved title.

While Beaumont looks set to claim the championship, the battle for the second position is anything but settled. Locked in a tight tussle, Franco Bensch and Nicolas Lennox are gearing up for an intense fight to secure the runner-up spot. Bensch holds a slight points advantage and understands the need to box smart throughout the day to fend off the competition.

Zach McAuley has had a steady season and finds himself poised to secure fourth spot in the final standings while giving his best on track this weekend along with Aleksandar Praizovic.

Watch out for Michael Danks. He won last time out and is a force to be reckoned with. He is expected to bring his A-game, injecting an extra dose of competition into the mix along with Aiden Beaumont, another front-runner, who will likely be a constant presence at the head of the pack along with the talented Matthew Roach.

Junior MAX (12th – 14th birthday)

Junior Max promises a nail-biting finale, with a level of intensity that has defined the entire season. At the forefront of the championship battle is William Marshall, holding a comfortable 21-point lead. However, the ever-competitive Jordon Wadeley, currently in second place, and a returning Keagan Beaumont are determined to shake up the standings in the season’s final act.

The fight for the podium is expected to be a fierce one, with Marshall, Wadeley, and Beaumont locked in a thrilling battle for the top three spots. The order in which they cross the finish line this weekend will ultimately decide their positions in the championship standings, adding an extra layer of suspense to an already tightly contested season.

Further down the ranks, James Nash and Ethan Deacon are embroiled in their own intense duel for P4 in the championship. Every move on the track will be crucial as they look to secure that P4 spot, but they will need to keep an eye out for Cole Hewetson, who is enjoying a successful debut season in Junior Max.

Joining the fray are Joshua Smit, Anwill April, and Matthew Chiwara, each poised to leave their mark on the final race of the season.

The battle for supremacy is on, and the WPMC Karting Section awaits the triumphant emergence of the 2023 Junior Max champion.

Senior MAX (14th birthday +)

Charl Visser, the reigning 2023 Polo Cup Champion, asserts his dominance going into the weekend with a healthy lead at the front of Senior Max. With four racing heats slated for this weekend, the final standings are however still to be determined.

Hot on Visser’s heels is Matthew Wadeley, his closest rival in points and a determined driver looking to defend his 2022 Senior Title. The battle between Visser and Wadeley promises to be a high-stakes affair, but you can add in Ethan Stier to that mix. Stier, with his eyes on the prize, is set to go head-to-head with Wadeley, intensifying the fight for the second spot in the standings.

Julius Schwager enters the fray with momentum on his side, enjoying a stellar performance in the last few races. Schwager is expected to be a formidable force, joining the ranks of those gunning for victory. Adding skilled drivers, including Zac Laden, Polo Supa Cup driver Tate Bishop, Oliver Roach, and Jude Stuart and the stage is set for a thrilling spectacle.

The race weekend promises to be a fitting conclusion to a season filled with speed, experience and skill.

DD2 (15th birthday +) and DD2 Masters (32nd birthday +)

Premier class DD2 is set to ignite a fierce battle among karting titans. Leading the charge is none other than the 2023 National DD2 Champion, Sebastian Boyd, who brings a handy points advantage into the title fight.

However, Boyd faces formidable opponents eager to dethrone him. F1600 star Jason Coetzee, known for his incredible speed, is prepared to go to war for the top spot this weekend. Joining the fray is Reza Levy, a multiple WP Champion and DD2 rookie, poised to make a statement against the seasoned competitors.

The grid is further enriched by the presence of Jurie Swart, a name synonymous with winning, and 2023 Polo Cup Champion Charl Visser. The mix of experience and talent sets the stage for some of the best karting action this side of the equator.

Boyd’s advantage over Coetzee in the title fight adds an extra layer of tension, with the absent Joseph Oelz likely to secure third spot for the season. Meanwhile, Levy is keen to prove his mettle against the seasoned competitors, and Swart is determined to demonstrate why he is hailed as the master of the Killarney Kart Track.

The clash between these two will unfold to determine the 2023 DD2 Masters Champion, and with Jordan’s recent prowess, the outcome is anything but certain.
